Gracie Bertrand

Hey there! I'm Gracie Bertrand, a Licensed Professional Counselor at Coastal DBT. I work with teenagers and adults who feel completely overwhelmed by their emotions, like everything is just too much sometimes. If life’s challenges keep knocking you down and the pain makes it hard to enjoy the things you want to do, I’m here to help.

Let me tell you a bit about DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy). It’s a really practical kind of therapy that goes beyond just talking about your problems. It helps you understand and manage really strong emotions, handle stress without falling apart, improve your relationships, and slowly build a life that feels worth living. It gives you actual skills to use in real life, but it’s also gentle — it understands that healing isn’t just about “thinking positive.”

DBT might be a great fit for you if:

  • You’re trying your absolute best but still feel miserable and stuck

  • Your emotions hit hard and fast, or they stick around way longer than you’d like

  • You carry a lot of shame or beat yourself up a lot

  • Even small stressors feel overwhelming

  • Your relationships keep struggling, even though you want them to work

  • Life feels like one crisis after another, no matter how hard you try

If what you’ve been doing so far just isn’t working, DBT can give you fresh tools and new ways to handle things so you can finally start feeling better.

Here’s what I really believe: Every thought, emotion, and behavior makes sense once you understand where it’s coming from. Nobody is “crazy” or “unreasonable.” The problem is usually that we don’t know why we’re reacting the way we are. DBT helps us figure that out together — so we can gently let go of the things that aren’t helping you and replace them with better ways of coping. A lot of people also feel less shame and more kindness toward themselves through this process.

You don’t need any specific diagnosis to work with me. DBT is especially helpful for things like borderline personality disorder, tough depression, complex trauma, and substance use issues, but it can help many different people.

I charge $125 per session if you’re paying out of pocket, but I do offer sliding scale fees when needed. I also accept SC Medicaid, Humana Medicaid, Healthy Blue Medicaid, Aetna, and Cigna. If you have different insurance with out-of-network benefits, we might be able to work something out through Thrizer.

If this sounds like it could be helpful, I’d love to chat! I offer a free consultation call so we can see if we’re a good fit.

Looking forward to hearing from you!
